PROGRAMS
So much of what makes a Study Center special is the ordinary happenings that occur throughout the week. Whether it's students preparing for an exam, making some food in the kitchen, or simply taking a moment to rest, the house is open daily to the needs of Wake Forest students
To help frame those everyday moments, we have programming that occurs on a weekly or monthly basis for students who want to be even more involved with the Study Center.
The hospitality interns make the Study Center possible. They complete necessary tasks like cleaning and maintaining the house as well as host the space as a welcoming place for study, conversation, and unhurried community life. The interns serve throughout the week, extending access to the house outside of regular staff hours. The interns often go above and beyond to make this a clean and welcoming environment for both new friends and familiar faces.
At the Study Center, we want to provide enrichment to the intellectual life as a Christian as well as spiritual nourishment. One way we do this is by hosting weekly reading groups. These are intended to create space for curiosity, learning, and growing closer to our Savior and neighbors.
The Emmaus Fellows is a program for students who want to dive deeper into Scripture. Students in the cohort gather for a homecooked meal and then get to dive into passages along with other students and Study Center staff. This program is designed to form students' spiritual life and equip them for their life in college and beyond.
Thoughtful and rich conversations do happen organically in the house, but some are organized to intentionally connect students to leaders in the Winston-Salem community and beyond to ask questions to and learn from. The Faculty Conversations and Vocation Conversations are an environment to facilitate these connections between students, Wake Forest faculty members, and working professionals.
