John is a fifth-generation graduate of Wake Forest, receiving a degree in Economics in 1980, which led to a career that spanned the banking, computer services, and clinical research industries. Living in Bristol, Tennessee since gradation, John has devoted much of his energy since 2013 to serving small businesses and not for profit organizations in strategy and leadership development. John is honored to serve his alma mater as a third-term Trustee and serves on a variety of other boards as well.

 

John is a member and elder at First Presbyterian Church in Bristol where he’s deeply involved in outreach ministry partnership with a Presbyterian church and Elementary school in northeast Brazil. Additionally, John is grateful for time now to devote love and energy to The Table Ministries, a non-traditional church ministry in Bristol, working

alongside recovering addicts and the unhoused who have come to faith in Christ to introduce those still locked in their addictions and brokenness to the love and hope of Jesus.

 

John and his wife Karen have four children and eleven grandchildren.
