About the Speakers:
Rebecca Alexander, PhD is a Professor of Chemistry, Director of Academic Planning for Wake Downtown, and the Senior Associate Dean for Research and Community Engagement at Wake Forest University. A passionate advocate for cross-disciplinary STEM education, her research focuses on biomolecular interactions, and she has been instrumental in expanding Wake's undergraduate research, mentorship, and community-guided science initiatives.
Dr. Steve Long is a structural biologist and the Director of Cryo-Electron Microscopy Innovation Laboratory at Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He completed a BA in Physics at Amherst College and received his PhD in BioChemistry from Duke University. His work in understanding and mapping intracellular calcium signals has contributed majorly to the field and current comprehension of how these channels work.
